Papercraft Kit FAQ

How big are the finished ornaments?

The maker gives these finished sizes: the Butterfly-Tail Ryukin Goldfish is about 195 mm long and 130 mm high; the Fuku-Fuku Pufferfish about 190 x 90 x 23 mm; the Kamon Crest set is six discs of about 80 mm diameter; the Black Koinobori is about 60 cm long. For the Ripples and Ryukin Goldfish Mobile the ripple ring is about 170 mm across and the main arm 280 mm.

Is anything not included?

Glue is not included. The Black Koinobori also needs a 50 cm piece of piano wire for the pole, which is not supplied — it is sold at hardware shops.

Do I need scissors or a craft knife?

No. Every part arrives pre-cut. The kit includes the paper parts and an elastic cord, with an illustrated assembly guide. You supply glue, which is not included.

Is the assembly guide in English?

The guide is illustrated, and the instructions are written in Japanese. The drawings show the order of assembly.

How soon does a kit ship?

Kits we have in stock ship from our Tokyo shop in our weekend processing, right after your order. If a kit is out of stock it is made fresh by Hayashi Takeo and ships in about two weeks. Shipping is included in the price and tracked. For orders to the United States we prepay U.S. import duties before shipping, so there is nothing to pay on delivery; elsewhere any duties are billed to the recipient.
