Habutae-bari: the lightest way to build a fox mask
Habutae-bari (羽二重張り) is the name of a mask construction technique: twelve layers laminated entirely by hand with rice paste and left unprimed, so the design is painted directly onto the bare laminate. It produces a fox mask of roughly 100–110 g — about half the weight of the same design built the standard way.
