A specialty store, not a souvenir shop.

KAMENYA OMOTE is a specialty mask store in Kyojima, Tokyo, open on weekends and online every day. We work directly with makers: Komendo, whose habutae-bari fox masks are built from many hand-laminated layers, light and warm to the touch and made to be worn; Hayashi Takeo, whose papercraft mask kits arrive pre-cut with elastic and instructions, no scissors needed, so the first thing you do is fold, not measure; and real-f, whose hyper-realistic “That Face” portraits are cast one by one for film, research and collectors.

Most of what we sell is made to order. That is not a shortcut. Fox masks are finished by the maker after your order, kits are cut in small batches every week, and each That Face is produced individually, so we tell you the expected lead time on every product page before you buy, and we ship from Japan with tracking the moment it is ready. U.S. import duties are prepaid by us; for the EU and UK the import VAT is collected on delivery, and we explain how much to expect on the product page and in the cart.

If you are choosing between a half mask and a full face, wondering whether a kit suits a first-time maker, or need a mask for a stage, a shoot or a study, write to us. A person in the shop answers every message. Start with our guides below, then ask us the rest.
