Papercraft Kit FAQ

What is a papercraft mask kit?

A flat-packed kit of pre-cut paper parts that you fold and glue into a wearable mask. These are designed and made by Hayashi Takeo in Tokyo — the same designer behind every kit in this collection — and range from fox masks and animals to articulated-jaw designs and a full sci-fi helmet.

Do I need scissors or a craft knife?

No. Every part arrives pre-cut. The kit includes the paper parts and an elastic cord, with an illustrated assembly guide. You supply glue, which is not included.

Is the assembly guide in English?

The guide is illustrated, and the instructions are written in Japanese. The drawings show the order of assembly.

Can I paint the kit?

Yes. Kits arrive in a single flat colour and are made to be finished as you like — painted, coated or left plain. Where our photographs show a customised piece, that is for inspiration: the kit itself arrives unpainted.

How soon does a kit ship?

Kits we have in stock ship from our Tokyo shop in our weekend processing, right after your order. If a kit is out of stock it is made fresh by Hayashi Takeo and ships in about two weeks. Shipping is included in the price and tracked. For orders to the United States we prepay U.S. import duties before shipping, so there is nothing to pay on delivery; elsewhere any duties are billed to the recipient.
