A translucent white face, a single stroke of crimson at each eye, and a knowing smile whose true intent no one can read. Kyubi (九尾) is modeled on the white-faced, golden-furred nine-tailed fox of Japanese legend — known in Japan as Tamamo-no-Mae, the beautiful courtesan whose true form was a fox. Flowing gold linework rises across the brow like nine tails of flame; the ears are lacquered in deep red and gold.

Habutae-bari: 12 layers laminated entirely by hand with rice paste and left unprimed, so the pattern is painted directly onto the warm, softly textured surface. Far lighter than the standard construction — a real advantage for a mask worn on the face — though the thinner build calls for gentler handling.

Authorized Komendo retailer — officially sourced from the maker, never resale. As an authorized retailer, we order your mask directly from Komendo. We place orders with the maker once a week, and your mask usually ships from our Tokyo shop within 1–2 weeks, followed by international shipping. In the rare case the maker has no stock available, we will cancel your order and issue a full refund in our weekend processing. Orders with multiple items ship together once everything is ready.
